Wankers Corner Saloon & Cafe - Wilsonville, OR

Hi everyone,

Finky the Kid here with another dining review.

I was on a business trip in Portland, Oregon last month and when I saw the name of this place I knew I had to stop for lunch.

Wanker's Corner (pronounced "Wang - kers" - it's an Aussie thing) is a local eatery that boasts its Americana and Australiana proudly inside, covering their walls with more kitschy knick-knacks than a Cracker Barrel. Which is one of the things that makes the atmosphere cool and utterly casual. So casual that they invite you to throw the shells from the basket of peanuts they bring to your table right onto the ground.

Their menu is somewhat more extensive than I expected before walking through their door, covering the bar basics like burgers, salads, and steak and fish, as well as wrap sandwiches, tex-Mex, and an "Anti-Carb" selection (like tuna steak or 1/2 lb grilled ground beef with veggies). There's also Gardenburgers, a Veggie Sandwich (served cold) and wrap, and a rice bowl with veggies and black beans for non-meat eaters.

Wanker's makes their own microbrew beer and on Friday and Saturday nights they have music and dancing with only $1 cover charge, which goes to benefit the Oregon Food Bank.

So, if you're in the southern suburbs of Portland sometime, give Wanker's a shot. The food is down-home good and they don't mind if you leave your nuts on the floor.
